Biography

David is a registered Specialist with the General Dental Council in both Restorative Dentistry and Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. He brings 35 years of experience, predominantly in managing and treating complex restorative problems and, in particular, those related to dentures, which is his clinical passion.

David qualified in Manchester in 1991, gaining a Distinction in Restorative Dentistry. He was also awarded the Claudius-Ash Prize for Restorative Dentistry and the Alpha Omega Prize for Clinical Excellence. He worked in general dental practice in the Manchester area for several years before undertaking a PhD, for which he was awarded the Manchester Medical Society Gold Medal for his research work in dentistry.

Having completed his specialist clinical training, David moved to the West Midlands in 2003 and raised his family here.

David was a Consultant and Honorary Consultant at Birmingham Dental Hospital and School from 2003 to 2025, where he specialised in managing patients with missing teeth, alongside teaching and training the next generation of dentists. He was appointed Reader and Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham in 2018.

Alongside his passion for diagnosing and treating patients with missing teeth, David was Head of Education at Birmingham Dental School and co-established the MSc in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Birmingham in 2017. He has served as a council member of the British Prosthodontic Society and continues to lecture nationally and internationally. David also provides education courses for dentists in the UK and examines and assesses dentists and dental students around the UK.
